Garden Visits
One of the best ways to get great ideas for your Patcham garden is to visit other fabulous gardens and steal theirs! We are organising a number of visits to local(ish) gardens during 2023, please see below for details. We ask that you make your own way to each garden, but if you need a lift, please let us know and we will do our best to arrange one for you.
Sussex Prairie Garden
One of the best gardens in the country is just 20 minutes from Patcham! Join us for a guided tour of Sussex Prairie Garden on Saturday 29th July, at 11am.
Surrounded by mature oak trees, the eight acre garden consists of a series of interlocking arcs of large planted borders in a naturalistic style. Large drifts of different varieties of plants are grouped in a free flowing style, with contrasting leaf forms, stems, stalks, flower shapes and textures. Visitors are welcome to roam in amongst the mighty plants to fully emerse themselves in the experience.
Tickets are £10 per person.
Please let us know if you would like to come.
Town Place Garden visit July 2023
We enjoyed a private tour of the fantastic Town Place Garden, near Sheffield Park in July.
Recently featured on the cover of Country Life Magazine, Town place is a three-acre garden with over 600 roses, herbaceous borders, a herb garden, topiary inspired by the sculptures of Henry Moore, ornamental grasses, an 800 year old oak, potager, and a unique 'ruined' Priory church and cloisters, in hornbeam.
Open Garden
Thank you to PGN member, Maria, for opening her garden for us in June. The sun shone and the afternoon was a delightful opportunity for us to socialise in a gorgeous environment. All proceeds went to Tommy's, a charity that raises money to help with baby loss and pregnancy complications.
Interested in opening your own garden to PGN members? We would like to encourage you all to do so. Please let us know!
Wisley visit April 2023
In April we took a trip to RHS Wisley - the sun shone and the tulips were out in force.
As an affiliated society of the RHS we are entitled to a free trip to one of their gardens every year. In 2023 we opted for a late spring visit to enjoy the early colour and promise of more to come.
