Open Gardens & Garden Visits

One of the best ways to get great ideas for your Patcham garden is to visit other fabulous gardens and steal theirs! We organise visits to local(ish) gardens and generous PGN members open up their gardens for all to see. Please see below for details of past and future events.

Open Garden 31st August 2025

Nicola is opening her garden on Craignair Avenue on Sunday August 31st from 12 - 5pm, raising money for the Forget Me Not unit where she volunteers. Forget Me Not is a specialist dementia intensive care residential facility in Worthing. Nicola manages two gardens and runs horticultural activities for patients on a budget of zero. Bring your cash! All donations will be gratefully received.

Open Garden 20th July 2025

Thanks to PGN member Sara who opened her garden for the NGS Great British Garden Party in July. We were all able to catch up with the progress Sara has made on her garden in only it's second year which included a newly developed wildlife area.

Open Garden 22nd June 2025

Thanks to Fiona for opening her garden in June, and to everyone who came. Fiona has taken her garden from a monoculture of lawns to a wildlife friendly garden in the past four years. Fiona raised money for Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell Arteritis UK and BREMF Community Choir.

The Garden House visit April 2025

We visited The Garden House in Warley Road for its NGS open day in the April sunshine. Originally a market garden it has year-round interest with trees, shrubs, herbaceous borders and annuals, fruit and vegetables, two glasshouses, a pond and rockery. They also run courses and do great cake!

PGN Goes to Wisley

In May 2025 we took our annual trip to RHS Wisley. This fabulous garden is just one hour away from Patcham. As an affiliated society of the RHS we are entitled to a free trip to one of their gardens every year. We opted for an early summer visit this time and enjoyed the paeonies and wisteria in bloom. Wisley is far too big to see in one day - if you would like to go and are not an RHS member we have a group membership card that you can borrow.
